Mission Statement for the Department of Surgery at Stamford Hospital

Our mission is more than just treating people as we would wish to be treated ourselves. It is doing what we know is best in a forthright manner for all concerned, providing a refuge from the storm of a serious health problem. To accomplish this goal our endeavors conform to best practice guidelines supported by "evidence based" medicine. We advocate for better healthcare in our community and for patient centered services. Through our understanding of clinical research, we identify innovations and apply therapeutic advances to everyday practice in a safe and careful manner. A commitment to medical education is part of the history of Stamford Hospital through which we have learned that by educating other physicians and staff, we evaluate our own efforts and standards. The educational process requires us to improve our communication skills with our colleagues and to connect with our patients so that medical changes can improve our practices and enhance the lives of those we treat.
